Renewal Conditions

To renew their franchise agreement, Tous Les Jours franchisees must meet several conditions before each renewal term. They need to provide written notice of their intent to renew at least 12 months, but not more than 18 months, before the current term ends. Franchisees must have no outstanding monetary or other obligations to Tous Les Jours or its affiliates and must not be in default of their franchise agreement or any related agreements. Additionally, they are required to sign a general release, execute Tous Les Jours' then-current form of franchise agreement (which may have different terms, including higher fees), comply with current qualification and training requirements, and pay a renewal fee equal to 50% of Tous Les Jours' then-current initial franchise fee. Franchisees must also renovate and modernize their bakery-café to align with the system's current standards and image and provide proof of their right to occupy the premises for the duration of the renewal term.

Training & Support Program

Franchisor Assistance

Tous Les Jours provides pre-opening assistance with site selection by offering criteria for potential locations and reviewing proposed sites. The company also helps with purchasing equipment, signs, fixtures, and initial inventory, and setting up accounts with approved suppliers. Tous Les Jours offers mandatory and suggested specifications and layouts for the bakery-café's design and decor. Franchisees and their designated managers receive five days of initial training covering all aspects of operation and management, including a review of the confidential operations manuals. A company representative also provides up to five days of on-site pre-opening and opening support. Ongoing assistance includes advice on operating issues based on reports and inspections, guidance on system standards, new recipes, food preparation, purchasing, advertising, employee training, and administrative procedures. Ongoing Support

During the operation of a Tous Les Jours bakery-café, franchisees receive ongoing support in several areas. This includes advice on operating issues, guidance on system standards, new menu items, food preparation methods, and purchasing from approved suppliers. Support is also provided for advertising and marketing programs, employee training, and administrative, bookkeeping, and accounting procedures, delivered through operations manuals, bulletins, or telephone consultations. Tous Les Jours inspects outlets periodically to ensure compliance with the franchise agreement and system standards. Franchisees are required to participate in national, regional, or local promotional campaigns. An Advertising Fund is established for system-wide marketing, to which franchisees contribute 2% of gross sales. Tous Les Jours may also require additional or refresher training programs, conferences, and meetings, for which franchisees are responsible for travel and living expenses, and potentially tuition fees. The company is available for telephone consultations with franchisees and their designated managers Monday through Friday.

Franchise Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

Tous Les Jours looks for franchisees who are committed to operating their bakery-café outlets according to the brand's business formats, methods, procedures, designs, layouts, standards, and specifications. Ideal candidates, or their designated managers, should possess substantial food service experience, demonstrate strong management abilities, and be able to promote the Tous Les Jours image to the public. Franchisees are expected to devote their full time and best efforts to managing the general business matters of their Tous Les Jours outlet and cannot engage in conflicting enterprises during the franchise term. For area developers, full-time supervision of Tous Les Jours outlets in the development area is required, either by the area developer themselves or an approved operator. This operator must be an experienced food service professional and also dedicate full time to the development and supervision of the Tous Les Jours outlets. All franchisees and designated managers must successfully complete the franchisor's training course. Franchisees and their spouses must also sign a personal guarantee.

Territory Size Requirements

Tous Les Jours defines its franchise territories by a radius measured outward from the specific bakery-café location. Typically, a territory will encompass a one-mile circular radius. However, if a Tous Les Jours outlet is situated in a "City Center Zone," the company may, at its discretion, reduce the territory size. This reduction would be to a half-mile radius for areas with a population between 50,000 and 100,000 within a one-mile radius, or to a quarter-mile radius for areas with a population exceeding 100,000 within a one-mile radius.

Staffing Notes

Tous Les Jours franchisees are responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and developing all employees and personnel needed for their bakery-café. This includes making all hiring and firing decisions, setting compensation, and ensuring compliance with wage and hour requirements. Franchisees are required to maintain a competent, conscientious, and trained staff, including a fully-trained general manager (who may be the franchisee themselves). If a manager is appointed, they must have substantial food service experience, demonstrate strong management abilities, and promote the Tous Les Jours image. Employees must provide courteous and knowledgeable service and adhere to minimum standards set by Tous Les Jours. Franchisees must also ensure their personnel wear standard uniforms and attire. Tous Les Jours establishes minimum staffing requirements to ensure the bakery-café operates in conformity with the system's quality and efficiency standards. Any training provided by Tous Les Jours for franchisee employees is for system procedures and protocols, not to imply an employment relationship.
