Renewal Conditions

To renew the franchise, The Vital Stretch franchisees must provide written notice between 6 and 13 months before the current term expires. They must secure the right to lease the Studio premises for an additional 5 years or find an approved substitute location. Franchisees are required to complete all maintenance, refurbishing, and remodeling to meet current brand standards. They must be in substantial compliance with all agreements, have no outstanding monetary obligations to The Vital Stretch or its affiliates, and sign the then-current form of franchise agreement. Additionally, franchisees need to satisfy current training requirements for new franchisees, pay a $10,000 renewal fee, and execute a general release of claims against The Vital Stretch and its affiliates.

Training & Support Program

Franchisor Assistance

The Vital Stretch provides franchisees with various forms of assistance. Before opening, The Vital Stretch helps by reviewing and approving proposed Studio sites and lease agreements, offering a prototypical floor plan design, and providing information and feedback on construction managers. It also delivers an initial training program for up to four people, including the franchisee or Operating Principal, Key Manager, and two Certified Stretch Practitioners. The Vital Stretch also offers guidance on selecting suppliers for initial inventory, equipment, and other needs, as well as assistance with establishing prices. Franchisees are loaned an Operations Manual containing mandatory standards and procedures. After opening, The Vital Stretch provides ongoing consultation and advice on client procurement, sales and marketing techniques, inventory, personnel development, and other operational matters. It approves and may modify the types of products and services offered. Franchisees are allowed to use The Vital Stretch's confidential information and proprietary marks. The franchisor also administers contributions to the Brand Fund for collective marketing efforts.

Ongoing Support

The Vital Stretch provides ongoing consultation and advice to franchisees on various operational aspects, including merchandising, inventory, sales techniques, and personnel development. This support is offered through telephone, fax, email, intranet postings, and periodic on-site assistance. The franchisor continuously approves and may modify the products and services offered at the Studio, and franchisees are permitted to use The Vital Stretch's confidential information and proprietary marks. The Vital Stretch also administers the Brand Fund for system-wide marketing and advertising. Additionally, The Vital Stretch reserves the right to hold periodic refresher training programs, typically annually, which may be mandatory for franchisees and their staff.

Franchise Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

The Vital Stretch is looking for qualified individuals who are financially and operationally capable, especially for multi-unit development. Ideal candidates should possess good moral character, a strong business reputation, and a solid credit rating, along with the aptitude and sufficient financial resources to operate a studio. The Vital Stretch strongly recommends that the franchisee or their Operating Principal be personally involved in the day-to-day operation of the studio. While not explicitly part of the ideal candidate profile for all franchisees, they offer specific discounts to qualified employees of existing franchisees with at least two years of service and honorably discharged veterans.

Staffing Notes

The Vital Stretch requires franchisees to employ a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to meet customer demand and handle office duties. Franchisees are solely responsible for all employment decisions, including hiring, firing, discipline, and compensation. They must implement a training program for their employees in accordance with The Vital Stretch's specified standards and procedures. Franchisees must clearly communicate to employees that they are the employer, not The Vital Stretch. Additionally, if the franchisee or their Operating Principal does not personally manage the Studio day-to-day, a Key Manager, approved by The Vital Stretch, must be responsible for direct on-premises supervision at all times during operating hours. All employees must sign a confidentiality agreement.
