Financing Details

Sport Clips, Inc. does not directly offer financing for the initial franchise fee or for the build-out, inventory, or equipment for new stores. However, Sport Clips, Inc. may, in certain cases, guarantee a franchisee's lease with a third party, particularly if the franchisee has acceptable credit and the location is exceptional. For this lease guarantee, a fee is charged (two months' rent for new franchisees, one month for existing; adjusted for 10-year leases). Franchisees must also provide a personal guarantee and grant Sport Clips, Inc. a security interest in their equipment and fixtures. If a franchisee defaults on rent, Sport Clips, Inc. can collect the unpaid rent plus an additional two months' rent as liquidated damages. For additional (second or more) stores, Sport Clips, Inc. may also guarantee a franchisee's loan from a third-party lender, under similar credit and location conditions. This loan guarantee carries a fee of 5% of the loan amount, and also requires a personal guarantee and a security interest in the franchisee's equipment and inventory. In case of loan default, Sport Clips, Inc. can collect the unpaid note payment plus two months' payment as liquidated damages. Sport Clips, Inc. does not sell or discount its financing arrangements and does not receive payments for placing financing with other sources.

Franchisees must use a Sport Clips, Inc.-approved designer. Sport Clips, Inc. provides initial training for up to two individuals (including a principal of the business) and a store manager, without charging a fee for the training itself, but franchisees cover travel and living expenses. On-site pre-opening and opening assistance is also provided at Sport Clips, Inc.'s discretion, which may include stylist training. Additionally, for a fee, Sport Clips, Inc. offers supplemental services like site evaluation, coordination with architects and contractors, assistance with ordering signs, and initial inventory stocking. After opening, Sport Clips, Inc. provides ongoing advisory assistance, maintains high standards of quality, and supplies updates to its operating manuals. It may conduct periodic training programs for franchisees and their staff, offer management consulting (for an agreed-upon fee), and conduct 'Mystery Shopper' inspections. Sport Clips, Inc. hosts annual national and area meetings for which attendance by the franchisee and store manager is mandatory; attendees may receive a reimbursement if they meet attendance and compliance criteria. Sport Clips, Inc. also initiates national, regional, and local marketing programs, including coupons and discounts, in which franchisees are obligated to participate and honor discounts up to $5,000 annually. Franchise Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

Sport Clips, Inc. primarily targets two specific groups for single-store or two-store Multi-Unit Development Agreements: current Sport Clips Store Managers who are approved to become franchisees, and Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who may not financially qualify for additional licenses. The franchisor also considers awarding these agreements in areas where it deems advantageous for the Sport Clips system, such as highly developed or high-cost areas. This indicates a preference for candidates with existing familiarity with Sport Clips operations or a military background, and a strategic approach to market development.
