Business Summary
Lice Clinics of America operates businesses that offer lice screening and diagnosis, along with lice-treatment services. These services primarily use the patented AirAllé heated-air device, complemented by other lice-treatment services and related products. Each business includes a physical clinic location and storefront, referred to as a Clinic, where treatments are provided, and can also operate secondary Satellite locations within its territory.
Corporate History
Larada Sciences, Inc. was formed in 2006 to develop and commercialize a new heated-air medical device called AirAllé for lice removal, which was invented by University of Utah researchers. AirAllé began manufacturing and marketing the device in 2010 after receiving FDA clearance and a patent. From 2010 to 2013, the company rented these devices to business owners operating under their own brands. Larada Sciences, Inc. began franchising in 2013, shifting to a licensing model for its intellectual property and devices, and launched the Lice Clinics of America brand in 2014. In 2017, the company transitioned from a licensing model to a franchise model to enhance marketing support and brand consistency. Since August 2016, Larada Sciences, Inc. has also owned and operated one Lice Clinics of America clinic in the Salt Lake City area.

Financial Health Notes
Larada Sciences, Inc. emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2022 after filing a joint petition in March 2021. The bankruptcy plan aims to repay all creditors over a seven-year period. The company states it has met or exceeded its projections through 2022 and expects to meet the plan's expectations, anticipating continued operations as a going concern. This recovery follows a period of significant financial distress, including being severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Financing Details
Larada Sciences, Inc. may, at its sole discretion, offer installment payment plans to qualified franchisees for the Franchise Fee. Larada Sciences, Inc. does not charge interest for this financing, but applies an 18% late fee for overdue payments. All Franchise Fees paid under an installment plan are non-refundable.

Staffing Notes
Lice Clinics of America requires franchisees to employ enough competent and trained staff to ensure efficient customer service. The franchise does not act as a joint employer, and franchisees have full control over their labor relations, including hiring, training, and wages. For operational roles, either the franchisee, another owner, or a Clinic manager must dedicate full-time effort to managing the Lice Clinics of America clinic and provide direct, on-site supervision. If the franchisee or owner is not actively managing, an on-premises manager is required and must attend initial owner training before the clinic opens. This manager is not required to have equity in the business. All owners and the Clinic manager (if applicable) must complete initial owner training and device training, receiving certification for device usage. Up to four people can attend owner training for a single fee, and device training costs $300 per person certified. Additionally, franchisees must complete initial QuickBooks (P&L) training from an approved supplier for $300, with an annual refresher course also costing $300 or less. Lice Clinics of America also holds periodic franchise conventions, which franchisees are expected to attend. The device must only be operated by certified operators who strictly follow specified methods and procedures.
