Renewal Conditions

To renew, Go Painting franchisees must provide notice between three and six months before their initial agreement expires. They must be in good standing, having faithfully performed all obligations under the original agreement. Renewal also requires the franchisee to refurbish the franchise location and replace any outdated equipment, sign a general release of claims against Go Painting, execute a new franchise agreement reflecting Go Painting's then-current terms (which may differ materially), and pay a $5,000 renewal fee. Franchisees or their designated managers must also complete any retraining programs prescribed by Go Painting.

Training & Support Program

Franchisor Assistance

Before opening, Go Painting designates the franchise territory, provides initial orientation, and conducts a mandatory 10-day training program called Go University. This training takes place virtually and in Salt Lake City, Utah, unless another location is designated. Go Painting also assists franchisees with complying with local laws and regulations, loans them a copy of the Operations Manual, and provides a list of approved suppliers. After opening, Go Painting offers ongoing advice and guidance on various operational aspects including paint technology, subcontractor sourcing, marketing, sales, estimating, project management, customer service, and financial consultation. They may also provide additional on-site training for a fee ($2,500 per day plus costs) and require attendance at refresher training programs and seminars annually (up to 20 hours), with franchisees covering their travel and living expenses. Go Painting also manages its marketing program and conducts inspections to ensure compliance with quality and service standards, including inspecting supplier facilities.

Franchisees and their employees are expected to be efficient, competent, and courteous, and must not have a history of criminal misconduct such as fiduciary misconduct, unlawful sexual conduct, or felonies.

Go Painting defines its Franchise Marketing Territories using geographical or political boundaries, typically aiming for an area with a population of approximately 250,000 people. Franchisees are required to operate within a 75-mile radius of the designated metropolitan area where their Franchise Marketing Territory is located. Additionally, certain metropolitan areas may have restrictions on the total number of franchisees permitted to operate within them, based on population.

Staffing Notes

Go Painting requires that the individual responsible for the day-to-day operations of the franchise, whether the franchisee, a partner, or a designated general manager, must successfully complete Go Painting's mandatory training program. Any crew leaders within the franchise operations must also complete the required training. Go Painting mandates that employees present a neat and clean appearance, provide friendly, efficient, sober, and courteous service, adhering to specific grooming and training standards, which may include background checks and drug testing. Employees who have been convicted of certain types of misconduct, such as fiduciary misconduct, unlawful sexual conduct, or any felony, are not permitted to be hired. All revenue generated by the franchise must be paid directly to the franchisee, and employees are not permitted to receive direct payments from customers. Franchisees are responsible for hiring and maintaining sufficient staff to handle customer volume at all times.
