Business Summary
Deck Medic operates a business that provides specialized professional outdoor wood restoration and power washing services, along with related services and products. Deck Medic franchisees can initially manage their business from a home-based administrative office. As the business grows, they may need to lease a non-retail commercial facility for back-end operations such as parking service vehicles, maintaining supplies, managing employees, and staging service visits. Services are exclusively offered and provided on-site at customer locations within a designated operating territory.

Financial Health Notes
The Deck Medic financial statements indicate that the franchisor experienced operating losses in both 2022 and 2023, with a net loss of $38,455 in 2022 and $4,533 in 2023. This is a change from a net income of $79,580 in 2021, which included PPP loan forgiveness. The franchisor's financial condition, as reflected in these statements, raises questions about Deck Medic's financial ability to provide services and support to its franchisees.
Financing Details
Deck Medic may offer direct financing for a portion of the initial franchise fee. Franchisees can finance up to $20,000, requiring a $10,000 down payment. The loan term is 36 months with an 8% APR interest rate, or the highest legal rate. There are no finance charges if the loan is paid in full within the term. Monthly payments are $626.73, with the outstanding balance due on the second Wednesday of each month after the initial down payment. This financing requires a personal guarantee, a security agreement, and a UCC-1 filing. Default can lead to the loss of the franchise and other remedies, and franchisees waive various legal rights, including the ability to confess judgment.

Training & Support Program
Franchisor Assistance
Deck Medic provides pre-opening assistance by granting the franchise and approving the operating territory. Franchisees receive access to Deck Medic's confidential Operations Manual and lists of approved suppliers, distributors, signage, and equipment. Deck Medic identifies and locates the franchisee's business on its website and maintains control over digital media accounts. Initial training for the franchisee or managing owner and one manager is provided over approximately two weeks in Frankfort, Illinois, or other designated location, which may include remote options. Post-opening, Deck Medic communicates operating standards, marketing standards, and a list of approved vendors. It may coordinate an annual system conference and offers supplemental training, which incurs a fee, if requested or required. Training for replacement Operating Managers is also available for a fee. Deck Medic also administers the National Advertising Fund and potentially Advertising Cooperatives. Franchisees are responsible for employee hiring and training, though Deck Medic provides standards for brand uniformity. While franchisees determine their pricing, Deck Medic may suggest pricing levels.
