There is a continuing education requirement for stylists, which may involve additional fees and travel costs. Bishops charges a monthly Technology Fee for services like intranet development, support, software customization, and business intelligence. Additionally, Bishops requires franchisees to participate in and offer all customer loyalty and reward programs, contests, and prize promotions that it develops, and to display all required promotional literature. Territory Size Requirements

Bishops grants franchisees a Protected Area that is typically a one-and-a-half-mile radius around the Store. In densely populated areas like major metropolitan downtowns, this Protected Area may be smaller, ranging from five blocks to half a mile. The Protected Area is designed to contain a population of up to 40,000 individuals and will not exceed a maximum diameter of six miles (or a three-mile radius). Within this Protected Area, Bishops will not own, operate, or grant others the right to operate another BISHOPS® Store, except for "Closed Markets" such as hotels, airports, or college campuses.

Staffing Notes

BISHOPS® requires each store to have an Owner who oversees general operations and a General Manager who manages day-to-day operations and dedicates full-time efforts to the business. The Owner and General Manager can be the same individual. Both the Owner and General Manager, if they are separate individuals, or the Owner if they are also the General Manager, must successfully complete the initial training program. If a General Manager leaves, a new one must be designated within 30 days and must complete initial or Manager Training. BISHOPS® franchisees must maintain a competent, certified, and trained staff, including stylists or barbers, who provide good customer service and meet minimum standards. All stylists must also comply with BISHOPS®' continuing education requirements, which are separate from any state-mandated licensing or certification education.
